The only effect setting a battery on a concrete floor is the temperature will drop to the temperature of the floor, therefore lowering the temperature of the battery will lower the cranking power.

MYTH:
Maintenance free Batteries.
FACT:
When you charge a battery it produces hydrogen. If hydrogen escapes the acid level goes down. Maintenance free design vents attempts to minimize the amount of hydrogen leaves in battery.

Gel Batteries are the best.
FACT:
For dollar value gel batteries do not have the life expectancy of lead acid batteries. They do have their specific application when a gel battery is required.
